ABIA POLICE BURST CHILD TRAFFICKING SYNDICATE, REUNITE RESCUED CHILDREN WITH FAMILIES AS TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED AND CHARGED TO COURT

The Abia State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing war against child trafficking, successfully reuniting rescued children with their families and arresting two key suspects linked to a disturbing case of conspiracy and child trafficking.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Maureen Chinaka, and made available to ABN TV, the arrested suspects identified as Chinasa Ukachukwu (30) and Adaoma Sunday (30), were apprehended after a meticulous investigation that led to the recovery of three missing children from different states across the country.

The police revealed that the case began on October 4, 2024, when Mrs. Chinasa Ukachukwu, widow of the late Mr. Ukachukwu Ojimadu, reportedly left her home with her four children under the pretext of attending a child dedication ceremony in Aba. Shockingly, she returned two days later with only one child and failed to account for the whereabouts of the remaining three.

Following credible intelligence and coordinated investigative efforts by detectives from the Abia State Police Command, her alleged accomplice, Adaoma Sunday, was subsequently arrested. This arrest paved the way for the rescue of the three missing children who were discovered in separate locations in Aba (Abia State), Lagos State, and Anambra State.

The rescued children have since been safely reunited with their families, while both suspects have been charged to court for conspiracy and child trafficking.

In a related development, the Command confirmed that, following its earlier press release dated October 10, 2025, concerning the rescue of eight infants and ten stolen children, two residents of Lagos State, Mr. Akinrinola Aliya Ayomide and Mr. Oladapo Olanipekun, have successfully identified and reclaimed their biological children after presenting valid identification and supporting documentation.

DSP Maureen Chinaka reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of children and the dismantling of trafficking networks operating within and beyond Abia State. She further urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.

The Abia State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, continues to strengthen its intelligence-driven operations to curb all forms of child exploitation, ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice and victims are restored to safety.
