ABIA HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY DEFERS CONSIDERATION OF YOUTH TECHNICAL AND ENTREPRENEURIAL TRAINING BILL, PETITION REPORT ON ALLEGED ABUSE OF OFFICE

At the plenary session of the Abia State House of Assembly held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, lawmakers deferred further legislative action on two key matters initially scheduled for consideration.

The first was the second reading of H.A.B. 38: The Abia State Youth Technical and Entrepreneurial Training (TET) Bill, sponsored by Hon. Rowland Chinwendu Dennis, which seeks to establish a legal framework for structured technical and entrepreneurial skill development for Abia youths. The proposed bill aims to institutionalize youth capacity-building programs, promote innovation, and enhance self-reliance through vocational and technical education across the state.

Also deferred was the consideration of the Report of the House Committee on Public Petitions and Judiciary on a petition titled “Re-report of a Case of Abuse of Office and Unlawful Investment: Obtaining by Tricks the Shops Legitimately Allocated to Us Since 1991 by the Then Imo State Government.”

The petition, which had been slated for deliberation in the Committee of the Whole, was stepped down to allow for further review and procedural alignment.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ihuoma Emeruwa, directed that both matters be rescheduled for a later legislative date to ensure thorough legislative scrutiny and due process.
