ABIA SET TO HOST TURAB 2025 AS OVER 40 TURKISH COMPANIES AND GLOBAL INVESTORS CONFIRM PARTICIPATION

Abia State is positioning itself as a new frontier for foreign investment, as preparations intensify for the Abia–Türkiye Investment Summit and Product Exhibition (TURAB 2025), a major international business event expected to attract billions of naira in new investments and reshape the state’s economic landscape.

Scheduled to hold from November 25 to 27, 2025, at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, the high-profile summit will bring together over 40 Turkish companies and other global investors with interests spanning agriculture, textiles, furniture, manufacturing, renewable energy, and construction.

According to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Investment Promotion and Public-Private Partnership, Chief Jerome Green-Amakwe, the event aligns with Governor Alex Otti’s strategic vision to position Abia as Nigeria’s most attractive destination for industrialization, innovation, and international trade. He confirmed that the participating companies have expressed keen interest in developing long-term ventures in the state, with projected investments running into millions of dollars, equivalent to billions of naira.

Themed “Bridging Continents, Unlocking Prosperity,” the summit is being jointly organized by the Abia State Ministry of Trade and Commerce in partnership with VEGA Growing Global Enterprise. It aims to strengthen trade relations between Abia and Türkiye while opening up opportunities for cross-border partnerships, technology transfer, and industrial growth.

Green-Amakwe further disclosed that the Abia State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with VEGA, underlining the administration’s commitment to attracting credible investors through transparent, business-friendly policies. The event will feature Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings, connecting foreign investors directly with local entrepreneurs to foster joint ventures, collaborations, and industrial innovation.

In preparation for the summit, the government has intensified engagement with chambers of commerce and industry in Aba, Umuahia, Lagos, Kano, and Abuja to ensure robust participation from across Nigeria’s business ecosystem. The initiative seeks to create networks that will drive inclusive growth and sustainable enterprise development across Abia and beyond.

Speaking on the state’s readiness, the Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Dr. Salome Obiukwu, affirmed that Abia has made comprehensive arrangements for security, logistics, and hospitality to guarantee a seamless experience for delegates and exhibitors. She emphasized that the government’s ultimate goal is to stimulate industrial expansion, economic empowerment, and job creation for Abians.

Also commenting, the Director of Projects at VEGA, Mr. John Onyemachi, noted that the current global economic dynamics present a unique advantage for investors. With the naira’s relative weakness against the dollar, he explained that foreign investors can establish industries and acquire assets in Nigeria at a lower cost, creating a mutually beneficial scenario where international capital empowers local enterprises and revives dormant industries.

The TURAB 2025 Summit is widely regarded as a cornerstone of Abia’s economic transformation agenda under Governor Otti’s administration. Beyond attracting foreign direct investment, the event is expected to redefine Abia’s position as the emerging industrial and commercial hub of the Southeast, driving a new era of growth, innovation, and shared prosperity for the peopl e of Abia State.
