…as Summit to Spotlight Start-up Law, Innovation Challenge, and Youth-Driven Tech Advancement
The Abia State Government has announced that the much-anticipated Abia Technology and Innovation Summit has been officially scheduled to take place from December 10 to 12, 2025.
This disclosure was made by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, on Monday during a media briefing at the Government House, Umuahia, shortly after the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.
According to Prince Kanu, “The main thrust of the summit will involve activities surrounding the start-up law and the hosting of a start-up innovation challenge.
“The summit will hold at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia.”
He further revealed that the innovation challenge will be “open and not restricted to graduates of the state’s first TechRise program.”
Prince Kanu also announced that the challenge will leverage the new UNDP UNIPOD facility located at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, which will serve as a hub for creativity, digital solutions, and entrepreneurial excellence throughout the event.
The summit, expected to attract technology experts, innovators, investors, and young entrepreneurs from across Nigeria, underscores Governor Alex Otti’s commitment to transforming Abia into a thriving digital economy through policies that empower start-ups, encourage innovation, and promote sustainable

development.
