Abia State to Host NIESV 2026 National Conference as Gov. Otti Applauds Professional Confidence, Reaffirms Safety and Development Drive
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has lauded the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) for choosing Abia State as the host of its 2026 National Conference, scheduled to hold from April 13 to April 18, 2026, describing the decision as a strong vote of confidence in the State’s renewed governance direction.
The Governor, represented by the Acting Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, gave the commendation while receiving a high-powered delegation of the Institution on a courtesy visit to Government House. He noted that Abia’s selection reflects growing national recognition of the reforms, stability, and developmental momentum being driven by the current administration.
Governor Otti reassured the visiting professionals that Abia State remains safe, peaceful, and hospitable, with an enabling environment for conferences, investments, and professional engagements. He emphasized that his administration has deliberately prioritized security, order, and infrastructural renewal to reposition the State as a preferred destination for both business and professional gatherings.
The Governor expressed deep appreciation to NIESV for acknowledging the State Government’s commitment to professionalism, particularly through the engagement of estate surveyors and valuers in key assignments that promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency in land administration and public asset management. He reaffirmed that his government will continue to partner with credible professional bodies whose expertise aligns with the vision of building a modern and well-governed Abia.
He further assured the Institution of the full support of the Abia State Government toward the successful hosting of the 2026 National Conference, while appreciating the positive remarks made by members of the delegation on the leadership style of the administration and the visible transformation ongoing across the State.
Earlier, the President of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Dr. Victor Adekunle, who led the delegation, explained that the visit was both to identify with the developmental strides recorded by the Otti-led government and to formally notify the State of the Institution’s decision to hold its 2026 National Conference in Abia.
Dr. Adekunle described the choice of Abia State as timely, noting the impressive level of peace, security, and aesthetic improvement across the State. He commended the warm reception accorded to the delegation and appealed for continued government support to ensure a successful and memorable conference.
In a vote of thanks, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Lands and Housing, Mr. Okorougo Aji, expressed gratitude to the leadership of NIESV for the confidence reposed in Abia State. He assured the delegation of the administration’s readiness to collaborate with professional institutions in advancing sustainable urban development, effective land management, and economic growth
in the State.
