Abuja High Court Issues Contempt Warning Against Eze Chikamnayo in Suit Filed by Gov. Alex Otti
The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has issued a formal notice warning Hon. Barr. Eze Chikamnayo, also known as Iyierioba Chikamnayo, of the legal consequences of disobeying an existing court order in a suit instituted by the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR.
The notice, issued under Form 87, relates to Suit No: FCT/HC/CV/3921/2025, currently pending before the FCT High Court. The claimant in the matter is Governor Alex Otti, while Eze Chikamnayo is listed as the defendant/respondent.
According to the court process dated January 19, 2026, the defendant was directed to comply with an order of the court made on December 18, 2025.
Records indicate that the said order was served on the respondent on the same day through his publicly advertised Facebook wall, identified as Iyierioba Chikamnayo, in line with the court’s directive on substituted service.
The notice explicitly draws the attention of the respondent to the consequences of non-compliance, stating that failure to obey the court’s directions would amount to contempt of court, an offence punishable by committal to prison.
Form 87, known as the Notice of Consequences of Disobedience to Order of Court, is a statutory step taken to enforce obedience to court orders and to put the affected party on clear notice of the legal risks associated with defiance.
The development marks a significant escalation in the legal dispute, as contempt proceedings may follow if the respondent fails to comply with the subsisting order of the court.
