Aba South Political Leaders Forge United Front for Governor Otti’s Grand Reception, Re-election Drive and Stronger Ukwa-La-Ngwa Political Cohesion
A strategic convergence of top political leaders and critical stakeholders in Aba South Local Government Area has laid the foundation for a united, purpose-driven political family aimed at strengthening internal cohesion, consolidating grassroots structures, and mobilising massive support for the re-election of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, and other progressive candidates ahead of future electoral engagements.
The high-level meeting, held on Monday, January 26, 2026, at the office of the Executive Mayor of Aba South, Hon. Obialor Denis Anyanwu, brought together the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and Member representing Aba South State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ihuoma Emeruwa; the Member representing Aba Central State Constituency, Hon. Ucheonye Akachukwu Stephen; the Aba Area Coordinator of the Abia State Harmonized Taskforce (ASHTF), Hon. Uche Nwogu; and a broad spectrum of party leaders, community heads, market executives, youth leaders, women leaders, and political appointees from across the LGA.
Setting the tone, Mayor Anyanwu expressed deep appreciation for the presence of the Speaker, honourable members, and stakeholders, describing the gathering as a decisive step towards building a formidable and inclusive political family in Aba South where all tendencies, structures, and interests align behind a common objective. He emphasized that Aba South must rise as a unified political force capable of delivering overwhelming support for Governor Otti’s re-election and ensuring victory for other candidates who share in the governor’s transformational vision for Abia State.
The Mayor further drew attention to the forthcoming Grand Civic Reception in honour of Governor Alex Otti, scheduled for Friday, 30th January 2026, at Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, and hosted by the Ukwa-La-Ngwa people. He stressed that the event represents a historic opportunity for the entire Ukwa-La-Ngwa clan and all its LGAs to showcase numerical strength, political relevance, and unwavering support for the governor’s administration, adding that Aba South, as host LGA, must lead from the front.
In his remarks, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ihuoma Emeruwa thanked stakeholders for responding promptly to the call for the meeting and reaffirmed his personal commitment to ensuring that all resolutions reached are diligently implemented. He described Aba South as a strategic political bloc whose importance in Abia State politics cannot be ignored, stressing that success can only be achieved through unity of stakeholders, harmonisation of structures, and collective ownership of shared political goals.
On preparations for the January 30 reception, the Speaker charged all leaders to immediately activate their wards, units, and grassroots networks to guarantee a resounding success. He also urged leaders to maintain discipline among their supporters, noting that adequate security arrangements would be in place to ensure orderliness throughout the event.
Hon. Ucheonye Akachukwu Stephen commended the level of engagement and consensus among stakeholders, describing it as a positive signal for both the Grand Reception and the larger re-election project. He called for strict adherence to agreed plans and timelines, stressing that effective implementation would determine the overall success of the mobilisation efforts.
Several other leaders who spoke, including Hon. Uche Nwogu, Mr. Kingsley Ogbonna, Barr. Ogbonna Dike, Barr. Chijioke Nkaru, Hon. Chief Dan Nkaru, Prince Ik Ukaegbu, Mrs. Amauche Elijah, Chief Nwaobilor, Hon. Chibuzor Nworu, Hon. Chima Mbama, Hon. Kingsley Madubuike, and Hon. Nmaju, collectively reaffirmed their readiness to mobilise their constituencies, contribute resources, and work tirelessly towards delivering a successful reception and sustaining support for Governor Otti’s second-term bid.
The meeting recorded the presence of councillors under Aba South LGA, political appointees from the LGA, the Chairman of the Labour Party in Aba South, the Aba South Coordinator of Abia Arise, chairmen of all markets in Aba South, the Chairman of President Generals of communities, the Chairman of Village Heads, the Chairperson of Women Leaders, the Chairman of Youth Presidents, leadership of the Abia State Tricycles Operators Union (ASTOPU), the Head of the Okada Union in Aba, and other influential stakeholders.
A major highlight of the gathering was the Speaker’s rallying call for collective commitment and intensified mobilisation ahead of the Grand Civic Reception, which was met with overwhelming affirmation from leaders present, underscoring the readiness of Aba South stakeholders to own the event, honour Governor Alex Otti, and reinforce their commitment to the continuity of his people-centr
