Abia State Ministry of Power Debunks False Social Media Claim on 1,000 Transformer Procurement
The Abia State Ministry of Power and Public Utilities has issued a stern warning to the public regarding false and misleading information circulating on Facebook and other social media platforms. The posts claim that Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has procured 1,000 transformers to electrify communities across the state.
In a statement signed by Engr. Ikechukwu Monday, the Honourable Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, the Ministry categorically denied the reports, emphasizing that the information did not originate from the Abia State Government or the Ministry.
The Ministry clarified that it has not, at any time, announced or confirmed the procurement of 1,000 transformers as claimed in the online publications. Members of the public were advised to disregard the posts entirely, describing them as false and misleading.
Engr. Monday reassured Abia residents that the Ministry remains committed to providing accurate information about all genuine policies, projects, and interventions in the state’s power sector through official government communication channels.
The Ministry further encouraged citizens to always verify any information regarding government activities from credible and authorized sources before sharing or acting on it.
