Abia Arise Ariaria Ward 09 Kicks Off 2026 with Strategic Mobilisation Meeting, Reaffirms Support for Governor Alex Otti and Intensifies Grassroots Voter Drive
The Abia Arise Political Structure in Ariaria Ward 09, Aba North Local Government Area, on Monday, February 2, 2026, convened its first official meeting of the year, marking a renewed push for grassroots mobilisation, political expansion, and sustained support for the administration of Governor Alex Chioma Otti.
The well-attended meeting, which took place at the popular Skyview Lounge open space in Aba, brought together leaders, stakeholders, party officials, youth representatives, traders and members of the structure, all united by a shared commitment to strengthening the Abia Arise movement and consolidating the developmental strides being recorded in Abia State.
Welcoming members, the Abia Arise Coordinator for Ariaria Ward 09, Mazi Kyrian Ogbonna Weluche, expressed delight over the visible impact of Governor Otti’s governance, noting that the dividends of good leadership were evident in the lives of the people. He appreciated the governor for the palliative distribution to members during the yuletide season, describing it as a clear demonstration of a people-centered administration.
Mazi Weluche stated that Governor Otti’s leadership continues to give the Abia Arise structure strong reasons to stand proudly with his administration, pointing to recent announcements on the rehabilitation of the Old Express Road in Aba, ongoing recruitment of teachers, and massive investments in school infrastructure across various local government areas.
According to him, these initiatives reflect a government determined to rebuild Abia on the foundations of quality service delivery and inclusive development.
He further described Abia Arise Political Structure as the authentic platform for progressive and like-minded individuals who believe in the mandate and vision of Governor Otti, urging members to intensify the ongoing registration exercise. He emphasized that the Abia Arise registration form is free of charge, encouraging widespread participation.
Speaking as a key stakeholder, Elder Jude Ozo drew attention to the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, warning that many people often fail to return to collect their Permanent Voter Cards after registration. He proposed the formation of a committee in the near future to monitor registrants, ensure PVC collection, and provide necessary support when the cards become available.
In his remarks, the Ariaria Ward 09 Labour Party Chairman, Hon. Linus Okezie, noted that the long-anticipated political season was drawing closer. He urged members to deepen grassroots outreach by bringing new members to subsequent meetings, stressing that growth in numbers would translate into greater political strength.
The Youth Leader of the structure, Comrade Mbachu Obediah, popularly known as Bishop, called on government appointees from Ariaria Ward 09 to deliberately carry the youth along in their engagements. He described young people as the lifeblood of any political structure and emphasized that their inclusion is critical to sustaining the movement.
Also contributing, the Councillor representing Ariaria Ward 09, Hon. Chukwudalu Nnabude, acknowledged the widespread affection Abians have for Governor Alex Otti but cautioned that goodwill alone is insufficient without active civic participation. He stressed the importance of obtaining PVCs and participating in the ongoing CVR, adding that from the current week, registration centers would be stationed at ward levels to make the process more accessible.
In his closing remarks, the Chairman of Abia Arise Stakeholders for Ariaria Ward 09, Chief Chijioke Amaku, popularly known as MC Boss, appreciated members for their impressive turnout. He expressed satisfaction at the influx of new faces into the structure, describing it as a clear sign of steady growth, unity, and collective progress.
