Azubike Ihejirika Clocks 70: Abia State Government Celebrates Former Army Chief, Hails His Enduring Role in State Security Architecture
The Abia State Government has extended warm felicitations to a distinguished son of the soil and former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Azubike Ihejirika (Rtd.), CFR, as he marks his 70th birthday.
In a statement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, the government described the retired military chief as a titan of discipline, a patriot of uncommon courage, and a pillar of Abia’s evolving security framework.
The government noted that Lt. Gen. Ihejirika’s illustrious career in the Nigerian Army, culminating in his appointment as Chief of Army Staff, reflects his strategic depth, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to national service. According to the statement, his years in active service were defined by resilience, tactical brilliance, and a steadfast dedication to safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

Under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti, the retired General has continued to contribute significantly to strengthening the state’s security architecture.
