Aba Visit Leaves Lagos-Based Activist, Saheed Jamiu in Awe as He Praises Governor Alex Otti’s Infrastructure and Cleanliness Drive Amid Free Nnamdi Kanu Protest
The initiator of the Free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu protest in Aba, Abia State, Saheed Jamiu, has expressed deep satisfaction with the level of development he witnessed in the commercial city of Aba under the leadership of the Executive Governor of Abia State, Alex Chioma Otti.
Jamiu, who travelled to Aba ahead of the protest demanding the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, said his visit gave him a firsthand opportunity to assess the widely discussed infrastructural transformation taking place across the city.
During his stay, the activist moved around several parts of Aba and later shared his observations in a video that has since gone viral on social media platforms. In the video, he openly praised the state of infrastructure and the noticeable level of cleanliness across the city, attributing the improvements to the leadership of Governor Otti.
Saheed Jamiu noted that his decision to travel to Aba was intentional, explaining that he wanted to personally verify the reports he had been hearing about the ongoing transformation in the city.
Recall that earlier in the week, Jamiu had arrived in Aba where he was seen distributing flyers and mobilizing supporters ahead of the protest which eventually took place in the city. The protest attracted attention as it was led by human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, drawing participants who marched through parts of the commercial hub.
However, beyond the protest activities, Jamiu’s remarks about the physical transformation of Aba quickly became a major talking point online. In the widely circulated video, he narrated his experience and compared what he saw in Aba with conditions in some other states.
According to him:
“I’m based in Lagos and ogun state, but i decided to visit Aba, Abia State to see if everything people were saying Is true. and this is what i have to say: Governor Sanwo-Olu And Adedapo Abiodun, both of you are the worst governors I have ever seen. you’re both completing 8 years. When I enter Aba, come see road. Everywhere clean. E clean d!£. Come see their market, e clean d!£. God bless Alex Otti; you too much. And this is just his first tenure“
His remarks referenced the governors of Lagos State and Ogun State, namely Babajide Sanwo‑Olu and Dapo Abiodun, whom he criticized while contrasting their administrations with what he claimed to have witnessed in Aba.
The video has since sparked conversations across social media, with many observers pointing to the ongoing urban renewal efforts taking place in Aba, long regarded as the commercial nerve center of Abia State.
Governor Otti’s administration since inception has embarked on extensive road reconstruction projects, environmental sanitation campaigns, and market rehabilitation efforts aimed at restoring Aba’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s most vibrant commercial cities.
For many residents and observers, Jamiu’s comments, coming from a visitor who traveled from outside the state have further amplified the growing narrative about the changing face of Aba under the current administration.
