The Executive Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, has broken his silence over recent reports and social media discussions surrounding remarks attributed to him, insisting that his comments were taken out of context and sensationalised.
Speaking on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the council chairman said the reports circulating across various media platforms had created a distorted narrative that did not reflect his true intentions, personal values or the official position of his administration.
Addressing journalists, stakeholders, leaders of thought and residents of the Area Council, Shekwolo stressed that truth, clarity and transparency remained critical pillars of responsible public governance.
According to him, the controversial remarks were made within a specific context relating to administrative efficiency, local development and the welfare of communities within Kuje Area Council.
The chairman recalled that the incident which generated the controversy followed a meeting involving APC youths and loyalists, maintaining that the circumstances surrounding the comments had not been properly represented in some reports.
He, however, made it clear that as the Executive Chairman of Kuje Area Council, he neither possesses nor intends to exercise any power that would deprive residents or citizens of their fundamental human rights.
Shekwolo declared that his administration remained committed to inclusive governance and equitable development across every community in the Area Council, irrespective of political affiliation, religion or ethnic background.
He said at no point did he intend to create disaffection, undermine any section of the population or promote policies that would not serve the collective interest of the people.
The council chairman therefore appealed to residents of Kuje to put aside political, religious and ethnic differences and join hands with his administration in the collective effort to build a better Area Council.
Shekwolo also called on members of the media to uphold the principles of professional journalism by carefully verifying the context of statements before publication, describing the press as an important partner in development and democratic governance.
He assured journalists, stakeholders and residents that his administration would remain open to constructive criticism, meaningful dialogue and accurate reporting.
The chairman expressed optimism that with unity and cooperation, Kuje Area Council could become a model of inclusive development and progress within the Federal Capital Territory.
He concluded by calling for peace, understanding and collective responsibility among all residents as the administration continues its efforts to move
the Area Council forward.
