Abia Moves to Launch Fourth TechRise Cohort as 2,210 Young People Graduate, 88 Secure Civil Service Jobs
The Abia State Government has commenced preparations for the fourth cohort of the Abia TechRise programme, building on the achievements recorded in the first three cohorts of the digital skills initiative.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, disclosed this on Monday, September 21, 2026, while briefing journalists at Government House, Umuahia, on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting presided over by State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR.
According to the Commissioner, the first three cohorts of the programme have so far produced 2,210 graduates, reflecting the administration’s sustained investment in technology, innovation and youth development.
He further disclosed that 88 outstanding graduates from the programme have secured automatic employment into the Abia State Civil Service, providing a direct pathway from digital skills training to formal employment.
The commencement of preparations for the fourth cohort further demonstrates the administration’s focus on expanding opportunities for young people and equipping them with relevant digital competencies required to participate effectively in the modern economy.
Through the continued expansion of TechRise, the Abia State Government is strengthening its efforts to create a digitally skilled workforce while opening new pathways for youth empowerment, employment and innovation across 
the state.
