Abia State is gearing up for an exciting and culturally vibrant Christmas season as the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy rolls out a festive calendar designed to elevate the state’s holiday atmosphere and promote creative expression.

According to the Information Commissioner, Prince Okey Kanu, the State Government has approved a series of major events that will add colour, entertainment, and community spirit to the Yuletide celebrations across Abia. Highlighting the schedule, he revealed that the Abia Comedy Fest will take centre stage on 12 December 2025 in Umuahia, bringing together top comedic talents and creative performers for an evening of laughter and cultural pride.

Following closely is the highly anticipated Abia State Christmas Carol, slated for 20 December 2025. The annual carol celebration is expected to draw thousands of worshippers, families, and visitors, further reinforcing Abia’s growing reputation as a hub for festive artistic displays and spiritual gatherings.

Prince Kanu disclosed these developments on Monday during a briefing with journalists on the resolutions from this week’s State Executive Council Meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti. He emphasized that the upcoming events reflect the government’s commitment to strengthening the creative economy, enriching the state’s cultural heritage, and providing memorable experiences for residents and visitors during the holiday season.
