Abia Set to Showcase Cultural Heritage, Creative Talents at 2026 Canvas, Culture and Arts Festival
The Abia State Government has announced plans to host the 2026 edition of the Canvas, Culture and Arts Festival, an event designed to celebrate creativity, cultural identity, and the artistic expressions of the people of the state.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, disclosed that the festival, organised through the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, will be held under the theme “Defining Us.”
The highly anticipated cultural event is scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, with activities commencing by 10:00am. The Deputy Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour.
The festival will bring together artists, creatives, cultural enthusiasts, and members of the public for a celebration featuring art exhibitions, cultural displays, creative engagements, networking opportunities, and inspiring interactions with both emerging and established artists.
The Canvas, Culture and Arts Festival 2026 is expected to provide a vibrant platform for showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Abia State while promoting the creativity, innovation, and talents of its people.
