Abia State Government Orders Mechanics and Spare Parts Dealers to Relocate to Ovom Industrial Cluster by October 15
The Abia State Government has issued a directive to all mechanics and auto spare parts dealers operating along School/Clifford Road, Hospital Road, Jubilee Road, and Azikiwe Road in Aba North, Aba South, and Obingwa Local Government Areas to relocate to the newly designated Ovom Industrial Mechanic Cluster, Ogbor Hill, on or before October 15, 2025.
In a public announcement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Industry and SMEs, the government reminded the affected traders that the one-year grace period earlier granted at their own request expired in May 2025.
According to the statement, the relocation exercise is part of ongoing efforts to decongest Aba metropolis, promote urban renewal, and create a safer, cleaner, and more organized business environment for artisans and traders.
The government emphasized that the move to the Ovom Industrial Cluster will enable dealers to operate in a more structured industrial setting equipped with essential facilities, in line with the state’s broader development agenda under Governor Alex Chioma Otti.
Dealers and mechanics are strongly advised to comply before the deadline, as enforcement will begin immediately after October 15, 2025.
For further inquiries, affected business operators are urged to contact the Ministry of Industry and SMEs at the New Secretariat, Umuahia.
