ABIA OPEN FOR BUSINESS: GOV. ALEX OTTI REAFFIRMS INVESTMENT READINESS, RECEIVES ZENCO GROUP, HIGHLIGHTS INFRASTRUCTURAL GAINS AND ECONOMIC POTENTIAL
The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has reaffirmed that the State remains open and ready for credible investors, stressing that his administration is firmly committed to fostering a conducive environment in which businesses can thrive.
Governor Otti made this known at his Nvosi office in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area while receiving a high-powered delegation from Zenco Group, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Cletus Oragwu.
The Governor stated that his administration is implementing investor-friendly policies and strengthening institutional frameworks to ensure ease of doing business, attract sustainable investments and drive economic growth across the State. He emphasised that Abia’s vast economic potential is anchored on both its human capital and abundant natural resources, noting that the State offers a unique blend of industrious people and a business-friendly climate necessary for enterprise growth.
“We are very open to business, we are also very hungry for the potential of Abia State to be harnessed fully, including the human resources.
“Our people are very industrious, they are very hardworking and those are the things that we require for businesses to grow,” Governor Otti said.
Governor Otti further noted that his administration’s strategic reforms in infrastructure and security have begun to yield tangible results, attracting both local and international investors. He cited a major agricultural investment already secured by the State as a clear indication of growing investor confidence.
“You probably would have also read that a big investor in agric has already committed to investing $200 million in this State in the next few years,” he stated.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to private sector collaboration, the Governor assured the Zenco Group of the State Government’s readiness to engage and support their investment plans. He explained that necessary structures and policies would be put in place to facilitate seamless collaboration and ensure that investors operate within an enabling and profitable environment.
“Our own job is to continue to make the environment conducive for these investors to come in. Abia’s identity as a commercial hub makes it naturally welcoming to businesses. This is a State that is business-friendly, we are businessmen and women,” the Governor said.
He commended the group for its renewed interest in Abia State and expressed optimism that their return would not only strengthen the State’s economic base but also yield mutual benefits for both parties.
Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of Zenco Group, Chief Cletus Oragwu, attributed the company’s decision to reconsider Abia as a viable investment destination to the noticeable improvements in infrastructure and security under the current administration. He recalled that the company previously operated in the State but exited due to unfavourable conditions, noting that the ongoing transformation driven by Governor Otti’s leadership has restored investor confidence.
Also speaking, a member of the delegation, Simon Oshi commended the Governor’s infrastructural strides, particularly in Aba, describing the city’s transformation as a critical factor in repositioning Abia as a leading investment hub.
He expressed optimism about future investments, stating that the improved business climate, enhanced infrastructure, and strengthened security architecture have made the State increasingly attractive to investors seeking sustainable opportunities.
