Abia State Government to Launch Cohort 3 of Digital Skills Training Programme, Targets Empowerment of Over 1,000 Youths

The Abia State Government has announced plans to roll out Cohort 3 of its acclaimed digital skills training programme for youths, in a strategic move aimed at equipping young people with technology-driven skills and creating new opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship.
The announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, during a briefing with journalists on the outcomes of this week’s Executive Council meeting, presided over by Governor Alex Otti.
Prince Kanu emphasized that the programme reflects the State Government’s ongoing commitment to youth empowerment and digital capacity building. He disclosed that the portal for registration would soon be opened to interested applicants, assuring that both the date and all necessary details will be shared with the public in due course.
“In continuation of the strategic empowerment of Abia youths through capacity building in digital technology, the State Government will soon launch the Cohort 3 of its programme.
“As it has become the practice, a portal will soon be open for interested participants to register. The date and necessary details will be made available in due course,” the Commissioner said.
Prince Kanu further highlighted the impact of the first two cohorts, noting that approximately 1,350 young Abians have already benefited from the initiative, gaining critical digital skills that position them for success in a technology-driven economy.
The programme, which combines practical training with mentorship and career guidance, is part of Governor Alex Otti’s broader vision to create a digitally skilled workforce in Abia State, promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable employment opportunities for the youth.
