Abia Tech-Rise ICT Programme Records Major Milestone as 850 Youths Set for Graduation, Total Beneficiaries Hit 1,399
The Abia State Government has announced that the graduation ceremony for the second cohort of beneficiaries of the Abia Tech-Rise ICT Training Programme will hold on Saturday, December 20, marking another significant stride in the state’s drive toward youth empowerment and digital skills development.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, made the disclosure on Monday at the Government House, Umuahia, while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.
According to Prince Kanu, a total of 850 youths who successfully completed the second phase of the intensive ICT training programme will be certified at the ceremony. He explained that the latest batch of graduands will raise the total number of beneficiaries trained and certified under the Abia Tech-Rise scheme to 1,399 youths.
He noted that the programme is a key component of the Otti-led administration’s strategic agenda to equip young people with relevant digital competencies, enhance employability, promote innovation and position Abia State as a hub for technology-driven opportunities.
The Commissioner added that the Tech-Rise initiative reflects the government’s sustained commitment to human capital development, particularly in the ICT sector, as a pathway to economic diversification, youth inclusion and sustainable growth in the
state.
