The initiative, which began on Monday, December 15, is a strategic collaboration between the Abia State Government and Abia Diaspora Medical Personnel, bringing together local and internationally based medical professionals to strengthen healthcare delivery in the state.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, made this known while briefing journalists at the Government House, Umuahia, on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Chioma Otti.
According to the Commissioner, the medical mission will run from December 15 to December 20 and will simultaneously take place across five designated health centres in the state to ensure wide coverage and accessibility for residents.
The centres hosting the outreach include the Abia Specialist Hospital, Umuahia; Uzuakoli Methodist Hospital, Bende; Okoko Item Adult Care Centre; Seventh-Day Adventist Diagnostic Centre, Ogbor Hill, Aba; and the Ahiaeke Medical Centre.
The Global Medical Mission forms part of the Otti administration’s broader commitment to improving access to quality healthcare, leveraging partnerships with the Abia diaspora, and strengthening the state’s health system through targeted interventions that directly impact the lives of t
he people.
