ABIA TRICYCLE OPERATORS UNION BEGINS MASS SENSITIZATION ON CONTINUOUS VOTER REGISTRATION (CVR) TO MOBILIZE SUPPORT FOR GOVERNOR ALEX OTTI’S 2027 RE-ELECTION BID
The Abia State Tricycle Operators Union (ASTOPU), Umuahia Zone, has commenced an intensive sensitization campaign to mobilize its members for active participation in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across the state.
The campaign, which began in Umuahia, is aimed at ensuring that all tricycle riders in the zone register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as a means of consolidating the gains of good governance under Governor Alex Chioma Otti.
Chairman of the Union, Hon. Chinweotito Godson Appolos, led the sensitization exercise, urging members to take the message beyond the parks to their homes and communities. He emphasized that obtaining the PVC remains the most vital instrument to sustaining the ongoing transformation in Abia State and ensuring the re-election of Governor Otti in 2027.
Appolos described the Governor’s achievements in infrastructural renewal, road construction, and workers’ welfare as unprecedented, noting that the union has resolved to stand firmly behind the administration that has positively impacted the lives of Abians, especially transport operators.
Also speaking, the Secretary of the Union, Chief Anosike Igwebuike, expressed gratitude to the Otti-led government, highlighting that tricycle operators have been among the major beneficiaries of the state’s road rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts. He noted that smoother and safer roads have enhanced their daily operations, improved passenger movement, and increased their income.
Chief Igwebuike reaffirmed the union’s commitment to continuous civic participation and pledged full support for Governor Otti’s people-oriented administration, describing it as a “government of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
The sensitization campaign will continue across various units and parks in the Umuahia Zone in the coming days as ASTOPU intensifies efforts to ensure that every member registers and becomes an active voter ahead of the 2027 genera
l elections.
