ABSSAA Launches Statewide Compliance Drive to Enforce Advert Rate Payments, Strengthen Revenue Collection, and Boost Development in Abia

The Abia State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ABSSAA) has commenced a comprehensive statewide compliance exercise aimed at ensuring that businesses operating across the state fulfill their statutory obligations on advertisement rates. The exercise is part of the agency’s renewed drive to strengthen revenue collection, sanitize the system, and enhance the delivery of developmental projects to the people of Abia.

Led by the Head of Department, Innovation and Strategy, Mr. Ndubuisi Nwaogwugwu, the agency mobilized its staff to various business premises displaying signage and outdoor advertisements. The team verified compliance with demand notices previously issued, ensuring that organizations and business owners align with the regulations guiding advert placements in the state.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ABSSAA, Hon. Victoria Onwubiko, reiterated the agency’s unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability in its operations. She stressed the importance of businesses making payments exclusively through official channels and designated agency codes, warning against fraudulent individuals who impersonate revenue agents to extort unsuspecting business owners.

According to her, the compliance initiative goes beyond revenue enforcement, it is designed to restore order and confidence in the system, ensuring that resources accruing from advert rates are properly channeled into infrastructural growth and other developmental priorities of the Abia State Government.

With this renewed compliance push, ABSSAA is reinforcing its role as a key partner in the state’s economic growth, while calling on business owners to support the government’s vision of building a more transparent, accountable, and development-focused Abia.
