APC Races Against Deadline as Party To Upload Tinubu, Running Mate’s Details To INEC This Week

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has entered the final phase of submitting the names of its candidates for the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that it will beat the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s July 11 deadline for the upload of presidential and National Assembly nominees.

Indications from within the party suggest that the exercise has reached an advanced stage, with the APC intensifying efforts to complete the submission process through the INEC nomination portal.

A senior member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) disclosed that the upload of National Assembly candidates was progressing steadily, while the nomination details of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate were expected to be submitted before the middle of the week, positioning the ruling party comfortably ahead of the electoral deadline.

The official expressed confidence that the APC would successfully conclude the nomination process on schedule, describing the exercise as smooth and well coordinated.

Further insights from the party’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) department indicate that the nomination details of several prominent APC figures have already been uploaded. These include principal officers of the 10th National Assembly, a number of serving federal lawmakers, as well as four incumbent governors who secured senatorial tickets during the party’s recently concluded primaries.

The latest development follows an extensive internal review by the APC of more than 700 petitions submitted by dissatisfied aspirants after its primary elections. The review resulted in significant adjustments to the party’s candidate list, with six senatorial candidates and 19 House of Representatives candidates replaced across different states to address disputes arising from the primaries.

The exercise reflects the party’s effort to resolve internal grievances before the commencement of the official election campaign period and to present a unified front ahead of the 2027 polls.

APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the immediate priority of the party is ensuring that all cleared candidates complete and submit their mandatory INEC Form EC9 nomination documents before the July 11 deadline. He added that the party would unveil its final list of candidates at the appropriate time after concluding all necessary nomination procedures.

With only days left before the close of submissions, the APC appears determined to complete the process without delays, as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum across the country’s political landscape.
