ASTOPU, Aba Zone to Hold Safety Seminar for Tricycle Operators, Seeks to Promote Professionalism and Road Safety
The Abia State Tricycle Operators Union (ASTOPU), Aba Zone, has concluded plans to host a comprehensive seminar on operations and safety aimed at equipping tricycle operators with the knowledge and skills required for safer, more efficient, and professional service delivery across Aba.
The seminar is scheduled to hold on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Abayi Umocham Primary School, Aba, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The capacity-building programme is designed to improve the operational standards of tricycle operators while promoting compliance with traffic laws, passenger safety, and responsible business practices.
Participants will be taken through a wide range of practical and educational sessions covering key areas such as Defensive Driving, Traffic Rules and Regulations, Keke Maintenance, Passenger Safety, Financial Management for Operators, and Health Insurance.
The event is expected to attract tricycle operators from across Aba, as well as key stakeholders in the transport sector who share the vision of building a safer and more organized transportation system in Abia State.
Among the dignitaries expected to grace the occasion are the Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Isaac Ukeagbu, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transport, Hon. Obioma Rueben Nwogbe, PhD, alongside other government officials and stakeholders in the transport industry.
The Chairman of ASTOPU, Aba Zone, Comrade Victor Azubuike, who is sponsoring the seminar, said the initiative underscores the union’s commitment to enhancing professionalism, improving road safety consciousness, and empowering operators with the knowledge needed to thrive in the transport business.
All tricycle operators in Aba have been invited to participate in the seminar, which is expected to provide valuable insights that will contribute to safer roads, better customer service, and improved welfare for operators throughout the city.
