ASTOPU Umuahia Chairman Welcomes Residents to December, Warns Against ‘One Chance’ Operators
As we joyfully step into the beautiful month of December, I, Hon. Chinweotito Godson Appolos, Chairman of the Abia State Tricycle Operators Union (ASTOPU), Umuahia Zone, warmly welcome all our esteemed members, residents, and passengers across the capital city to this season of celebration, reflection, and renewed hope.
December is a festive period filled with travels, activities, and increased movement on our roads. I therefore urge all tricycle operators under ASTOPU to remain law-abiding, responsible, and committed to strict adherence to every traffic regulation. Let us demonstrate discipline in our operations, maintain safe speed limits, avoid reckless driving, and ensure that our passengers are conveyed with dignity, caution, and respect.
This Yuletide season also comes at a time when security awareness must be at its peak. The Abia State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has rolled out strategic security measures to make this festive period safe, peaceful, and crime-free for all. We, as partners in the state’s transportation chain, must complement these efforts by being vigilant and proactive.
I wish to strongly warn our passengers and members of the public to be alert and watchful. There are individuals disguising as tricycle operators popularly referred to as “One Chance” who exploit the festive rush to carry out criminal activities. Please be cautious, observant, and sensitive to any suspicious movement or behavior.
Always ensure that the tricycle you board carries the official ASTOPU Umuahia Zone sticker. Take note of the identification number boldly displayed, and in any case of doubt, discomfort, or suspicious conduct, report immediately to the nearest security agency. Your quick alert could save a life.
To all our genuine Keke riders, remember that the safety of passengers remains our top responsibility. Let us protect the name of ASTOPU by working with integrity, honesty, and professionalism.
As we journey through this final month of 2025, I pray for divine protection, peaceful celebrations, increased prosperity for all our members, and a joyful Christmas season ahead.
Happy New Month, Umuahia!
Stay safe, stay vigilant, and may God bless Abia State.
HON. CHINWEOTITO GODSON APPOLOS,
Chairman, ASTOPU Umuahia Zone
