Desmond Elliot Goes On His Knees, Begs Femi Gbajabiamila For Forgiveness After APC Primary Dispute
Lagos State House of Assembly member, Hon. Desmond Elliot, has reportedly apologised to former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, following a political disagreement that erupted during the last All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Lagos.
In a video circulating on social media, Elliot is seen going down on his knees before Gbajabiamila as he appeals for forgiveness and seeks reconciliation with his political camp and reintegration into the ruling party’s structure in Lagos.
Elliot expressed deep remorse over his actions, acknowledging that he had no excuse for what transpired and pledging to conduct himself differently going forward.
The dramatic reconciliation comes against the backdrop of a bitter dispute that followed the APC primary election for the Surulere Constituency I seat in May.
Elliot had withdrawn from the primary, alleging intimidation and political pressure against his supporters. Following his withdrawal, he rejected the outcome of the exercise and indicated that he would challenge the process through the party’s internal appeal mechanism.
The contest eventually ended with Elliot losing the APC ticket to Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, a candidate widely believed to have the backing of Gbajabiamila.
Odunuga-Bakare secured a commanding 11,385 votes in the primary, while Elliot polled 270 votes.
The latest development has therefore attracted considerable attention within Lagos political circles, with the video portraying an apparent attempt by the former actor-turned-politician to mend fences and restore his relationship with a major political figure in Surulere and Lagos politics.
The public display of remorse and reconciliation could mark a significant shift in the political relationship between Elliot, Gbajabiamila and the APC leadership as the party continues to manage internal alignments ahead of future politi
