“Governor Adeleke, Stand With Osun People as We Have Stood With You. Don’t Assure Tinubu That Osun Will Vote for Him in the 2027 Election. What Kind of Rough Play Is That?” — Osun Resident Takes On Gov. Adeleke Over President Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election Endorsement
A video currently gaining widespread attention on X has captured the moment an elderly man from Osun State openly criticised Governor Ademola Adeleke over his reported endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking passionately in Yoruba, the elderly resident expressed displeasure over the governor’s political position, arguing that Adeleke should not presume to decide how the people of Osun State would vote in the next presidential election.
According to him, the people of the state supported and elected Adeleke based on their assessment of his performance and political credentials. In the same manner, he insisted, President Tinubu’s chances in Osun State in 2027 would ultimately depend on how the people assess his own performance in office.
The resident maintained that political endorsements by prominent leaders should not be interpreted as a guarantee that citizens would automatically follow their preferred candidate at the polls. He stressed that voters have the right to independently determine who deserves their support.
“Governor Adeleke, stand with Osun people as we have stood with you. Don’t assure Tinubu that Osun will vote for him in the 2027 election. What kind of rough play is that?” he said.
The video has since generated reactions on social media, with the elderly man’s remarks adding to the growing political conversations surrounding the 2027 general election.
As political alignments and endorsements begin to emerge ahead of the election, the incident highlights the debate over whether political leaders can truly influence the choices of voters or whether the electorate will ultimately make decisions based on the performance of candidates seeking their mandate.
