Iran Launches Missiles and Drones at US Bases in Escalation of Middle East Tensions
Iran has launched at least four ballistic missiles alongside multiple drones targeting United States military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, in what it described as retaliation for renewed American strikes ordered by Donald Trump against Tehran.
According to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, its Aerospace Force carried out a long-range missile assault aimed at a military airbase in Jordan that hosts US personnel. The group claimed the strike caused significant damage to key command-and-control facilities as well as hangars reportedly housing F-35 fighter jets.
Regional security tensions intensified as Kuwait’s military confirmed that its air defence systems were actively intercepting unidentified hostile aerial targets, while Bahrain experienced air raid sirens for the second time in a single morning, signalling heightened threat levels across the Gulf.
The escalation follows US military operations described as retaliatory strikes on Iranian air defence infrastructure. The action was taken after Washington accused Iran of downing an American helicopter during patrol operations over the Strait of Hormuz.
US officials reported that two pilots were safely rescued from the waterway after the Apache helicopter, valued at around $40 million, went down during the incident.
The US Central Command stated that the strikes were carried out in self-defence, describing them as a proportional response to what it called unjustified Iranian aggression. United States Central Command maintained that the operation was necessary to protect American forces and deter further attacks.
