IRGC Claims Missile Strikes on US-Linked Air Base in Jordan Amid Escalating Regional Tensions
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that it carried out a missile attack on a military base in Jordan allegedly hosting US fighter jets, marking a significant escalation in tensions with Washington following recent strikes on Iranian territory.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the IRGC said its Aerospace Force launched 12 ballistic missiles targeting the Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, along with what it described as key facilities used by the United States military. The group claimed the operation resulted in the destruction of infrastructure at the base as well as a large number of American fighter jets reportedly stationed there, including F-35, F-15, and F-16 aircraft.
The IRGC described the attack as a direct response to US missile strikes that reportedly hit areas inside Iran, including a recreational site, an industrial complex, and locations near Karaj and Nazarabad, west of Tehran, as well as a Revolutionary Guard facility in Pishva County.
It further warned that military operations would continue as long as what it called hostile actions persist.
Earlier in the escalation cycle, the IRGC also claimed responsibility for strikes on multiple US-linked military installations across the region, including bases in Kuwait and Bahrain. These included the Ali Al Salem and Ahmad Al Jaber bases in Kuwait, as well as the Sheikh Isa base in Bahrain. Iranian military statements also referenced additional attacks targeting Patriot missile systems, communications infrastructure, and facilities linked to the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.
The developments come amid rapidly intensifying tensions between the United States and Iran, following a series of strikes and counterstrikes that have expanded across multiple locations in the Middle East.
