The Minister of Power and former All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has declared his readiness to contest the 2027 governorship election, asserting that his ambition is not driven by selfish motives but by a deep passion to serve the people of Oyo State.

In a viral video obtained by TVC and trending on X (formerly Twitter), Adelabu emphasized that his desire to lead the state is rooted in his love for the poor, the less privileged, and his vision to reposition Oyo for growth and inclusive development.

Addressing APC leaders, stakeholders, and party members in Oke-Ogun Zone 2 comprising Oorelope, Saki East, Saki West, Olorunsogo, Irepo, and Atisbo Local Government Areas. Adelabu spoke passionately in Yoruba about his political journey and commitment to public service.

He said, “I have been on this political journey for quite some time. In politics, I have learned that one may not always get what one deserves in a single attempt; life and politics have both taught me this lesson.”

Recounting his past electoral experiences, Adelabu continued, “I have paid my dues. I contested alongside Seyi Makinde in 2019 and again in 2023.”

Declaring his renewed ambition with conviction, he proclaimed, “Today, I declare, it is our turn, it is my turn in 2027, as God has revealed it. Adelabu! Àwálòkàn! Penkelemesi Èmilòkàn!”

The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria further disclosed that his campaign would begin at the grassroots level.

“We will begin our door-to-door campaign in earnest, and by the grace of God and our collective efforts, victory is not only possible, it is certain,” he assured.

Adelabu pledged that if given the opportunity to serve as governor, his administration would focus on advancing the progress, prosperity, and welfare of the people of Oyo State, particularly those in rural and underserved communities.

He also called for unity within the APC, stressing that internal democracy and cohesion were vital for reclaiming power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“United APC owns Oyo State, PDP is a tenant in Agodi Government House. A divided house can never be victorious; APC will regain Oyo State in 2027,” Adelabu declared.

He added, “There should be internal democracy in our party, and this starts from our upcoming congress. I want to assure you that no one will impose any candidate on us; our party should unite and stand as one.”

Adelabu’s emphatic declaration has begun to stir political reactions across Oyo State, with observers describing it as a strong comeback statement that could reshape the political dynamics ahead of the 2027 elections.
