‘It’s Virtually Done and Dusted’ — Michael Owen Declares Arsenal F.C. Have Practically Secured Premier League Title After Extending Lead Over Manchester City F.C.
Former England striker Michael Owen has expressed strong confidence that Arsenal F.C. are on the verge of clinching the Premier League title, insisting that the North London club’s commanding advantage at the top of the table has effectively decided the championship race.
Arsenal strengthened their position in the title race after securing a convincing 2–0 victory over Everton F.C., a result that pushed the Gunners nine points clear of their closest challengers, Manchester City F.C..
The development was further compounded just hours later when City dropped crucial points after being held to a 1–1 draw by West Ham United F.C.. Despite the draw, the reigning champions still have a game in hand, which could potentially reduce the gap if they secure victory.
However, Owen believes that even with the mathematical possibilities still in play, Arsenal’s current advantage and consistency make it highly unlikely for City to mount a successful comeback in the race for the title.
Speaking during an appearance on Premier League Productions, the former striker argued that the outcome of the title battle is already almost certain.
He said: “It’s virtually done and dusted.
“Let’s assume that they beat Arsenal at the Etihad, they have to do that – and they win their game in hand, the gap becomes three points.
“The question is: can Arsenal drop three points in any of their games? Yes, they can. So it’s not absolutely over.
“But will Man City win all their games? The answer is no. They are not good enough.
“I also can’t see Arsenal losing to Man City.”
Owen’s comments come as Arsenal continue to maintain impressive form, displaying both attacking strength and defensive solidity in their recent matches. Their victory against Everton has further strengthened belief among supporters that the club could finally end their long wait for the Premier League crown.
While Manchester City still possess the experience of winning tight title races in recent seasons, the pressure is now firmly on them to produce a flawless run of results if they are to keep their hopes alive.
With the season entering its decisive phase, Arsenal remain firmly in control of the title race, and many pundits now believe the Gunners are only a few consistent performances away from securing one of the most memorable league triumphs in the club’s recent history.
