Massive Turnout at Isi Gate Central Bus Terminal as ABSOA Drives Seamless Abia Connect Enrollment Under Governor Alex Otti’s Transport Reform Agenda
In furtherance of the bold transportation reforms championed by Governor Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, the Abia State Orientation Agency (ABSOA) media team paid an inspection and sensitization visit to the Central Bus Terminal at Isi Gate, Umuahia, where an impressive crowd of commuters turned out to obtain the Abia State Card, popularly known as Abia Connect.
The visit showcased the growing acceptance and smooth implementation of the state’s modernized transport payment system. The terminal was bustling with activity as residents queued in an orderly manner to register, receive, and fund their Abia Connect cards for seamless travel across the state.
Officials and agents were strategically stationed on ground to attend to commuters. They issued new cards, provided guidance, and assisted individuals who were yet to obtain their Abia State Social Identification Number (ABSSIN). The process was described as swift and efficient, with commuters receiving adequate attention throughout the registration and card activation stages.
Notably, the entire exercise was carried out without network disruptions, ensuring that cards were issued and funded seamlessly. This smooth operation reflects the state government’s commitment to deploying technology-driven solutions that enhance service delivery and eliminate the bottlenecks traditionally associated with public transportation systems.
Abia Connect serves as an electronic payment card for commuters using the Abia State Green Shuttle within the state. The card is provided at no cost to residents and can only be issued and funded at designated bus terminals through authorized agents. The system guarantees secure, cashless, and transparent fare payments to any destination serviced by the Green Shuttle across Abia State.
For individuals who do not yet possess an ABSSIN or those who have misplaced their identification number, registration and recovery services are available online through www.abiapay.com, further expanding access to the state’s integrated digital transport network.
