ABIA ARISE, ARIARIA WARD 09 INTENSIFIES PVC MOBILISATION, WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS AND REAFFIRMS LABOUR PARTY UNITY AHEAD OF ELECTION SEASON

The Abia Arise Political Structure in Ariaria Ward 09 on Monday, March 2, 2026, convened its monthly congress meeting at the popular Skyview Lounge open space, drawing an impressive turnout of ward executives, stakeholders, youth and women leaders, market leaders, traders, party faithful, and observers from the local government level.
The meeting, held at a critical period as the election season approaches, focused on strengthening internal coordination, ensuring voter preparedness, promoting unity within the Labour Party, expanding grassroots mobilisation, and consolidating the structure’s growing influence within the ward.
In his opening remarks, the Coordinator of Abia Arise Ariaria Ward 09, Mazi Kyrian Ogbonna Weluche, warmly welcomed members and expressed appreciation for their unwavering commitment to the structure. He emphasized the need for increased seriousness and accountability as political activities intensify, directing that members should henceforth attend meetings with their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).
The measure, he explained, is aimed at identifying committed and election-ready members as the ward positions itself strategically for the coming electoral engagements.
He extended heartfelt appreciation to key stakeholders, including the Stakeholders Chairman of Abia Arise in Ward 09, Hon. Chijioke Amaku, popularly known as MC Boss, and the youth leadership for their dedication. He also commended the media personality from THE EYES OPENER NEWS for his wide reach and consistent efforts in projecting the activities and growth of the structure within the ward, across Abia State, and nationwide.
In a significant highlight of the congress, Abia Arise Ariaria Ward 09 officially welcomed new members into the political structure. The new entrants were received with enthusiasm, signaling the growing acceptance and expansion of the movement at the grassroots level. Leaders described the development as a testament to the increasing confidence of residents in the ideals and direction of the Abia Arise Political Structure.
Addressing members, the Stakeholders Chairman, Hon. Chijioke Amaku, expressed gratitude and solidarity with the gathering, praising members for their loyalty and steadfast support for His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, and the Abia Arise Political Structure. He urged women in the ward to remain resilient and actively engaged in political activities, noting that their participation remains crucial to the success of the movement. He equally applauded the Youth Leader, Comrade Obidiah Mbachwu also known as Bishop, for his passion, enthusiasm, and unwavering devotion to the structure activities at the grassroots.
On the issue of Labour Party membership registration and issuance of party cards, the Labour Party Chairman for Ariaria Ward 09, Hon. Linus Okezie, clarified that directives concerning new member registration and distribution of party cards would be communicated officially from the national level down to the state and ward levels. He assured members that due process would be followed and urged patience pending formal notification.
Security and voter protection were also highlighted during the meeting. A member, Mr. Chukwuma Obiajunwa, cautioned residents against individuals allegedly requesting PVCs from unsuspecting citizens in exchange for cash. He warned members to remain vigilant, safeguard their voter cards, and resist any attempt to compromise their civic rights.
Reinforcing the call for unity, the Youth Leader of the Labour Party in Aba North, Comrade Chizoba Onuyeukwu, declared that the era of factionalism and internal division within the party had passed. He stressed that the focus must now shift to building a formidable and united Labour Party capable of delivering strong electoral outcomes. He further encouraged eligible voters who have not yet participated in the ongoing voter registration exercise to do so without delay.
Inclusion also formed part of the deliberations, as a representative of the disability community in Aba North, Comrade Nnaukwu Daniel, appealed for increased participation of persons with disabilities in the ongoing voter registration process. He emphasized the need for inclusive political engagement to ensure that no demographic group is left behind in the democratic process.
In a show of solidarity and community spirit, the Secretary of Ariaria International Market, Hon. Arinze Aweh, expressed gratitude to members of Abia Arise and the Labour Party for their presence and support during his father’s burial. He commended the unity and love demonstrated by members, describing it as a testament to the strength and cohesion of the political family in Ward 09.
The meeting was also graced by a monitoring representative from the Abia Arise Local Government structure, Rev. John Echenini, and the Abia Arise Youth Leader for Aba North, Comrade Kingsley Odiegwu, whose presence underscored the importance attached to the ward’s activities at the broader local government level.
As deliberations concluded, members reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the Abia Arise Political Structure in Ariaria Ward 09, intensifying voter mobilisation, safeguarding PVCs, expanding membership, and promoting unity within the Labour Party as the ward prepares strategically for the for
