Olu Jacobs’ Family Announces Final Rites, Sets Dates for Night of Tributes and Funeral Service
The family of veteran Nigerian actor, Oludotun Baiyewun Jacobs, MFR, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, has announced the arrangements for his final rites following his passing at the age of 84.
The family, in a statement, expressed deep gratitude to God for the life of the celebrated actor, describing his 84 years as a remarkable journey filled with lasting memories, love and impact.
As part of the funeral programme, a Night of Tributes will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Glover Memorial Hall, 19 Marina Road, Lagos Island, Lagos State.
Family members, friends, colleagues, admirers and well-wishers attending the Night of Tributes have been requested to appear in shades of blue as the nation gathers to honour the late screen icon.
The Funeral Service will follow on Friday, October 2, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at This Present House, Freedom Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State.
The dress code for the funeral service is shades of green.
Olu Jacobs, whose decades-long career helped shape Nigeria’s theatre, television and film industries, leaves behind a legacy that spans generations and remains deeply woven into the history of Nigerian entertainment.
The announced rites will provide an opportunity for family, friends, colleagues and admirers to pay their final respects to one of Nigeria’s most respected acting legends.
