…as GADA Intensifies Urban Renewal With Ongoing Eziama Pedestal Bridge Construction in Aba

The Abia State Government (ABSG) has announced that the Ovom Street Erosion Project in Aba is nearing completion, marking another milestone in Governor Alex Otti’s ongoing infrastructural transformation agenda.

According to the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, who briefed newsmen on Monday at the Government House, Umuahia, following the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Otti, the project is being executed with rigid pavement technology, a modern engineering approach that guarantees a lifespan of over 50 years.

Prince Kanu explained that the adoption of this advanced construction method reflects the Otti-led administration’s commitment to delivering sustainable infrastructure capable of withstanding the test of time and the pressures of heavy vehicular use, especially in flood-prone areas like Ovom.

The Information Commissioner further revealed that the state government, through the Greater Aba Development Authority (GADA), is intensifying efforts to transform Aba into a model commercial city befitting its status as the economic heartbeat of Abia State. Among the major urban renewal initiatives currently underway is the construction of the Eziama Pedestal Bridge, strategically located opposite the Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic (OOP), Aba.

He emphasized that these projects form part of Governor Alex Otti’s comprehensive vision to reposition Aba as an indisputable commercial hub, enhance mobility, and create a cleaner, more functional urban environment that attracts investors and improves residents’ quality of life.

The Ovom Street and Eziama projects are just a few among several transformative works currently being executed under the Otti administration’s massive infrastructure renewal drive across the state.
