A co-founder and former technical leader of Paystack has spoken out following days of intense online speculation and the company’s decision to terminate his employment before the conclusion of an internal investigation.

In a detailed personal statement, he explained that his reputation built over many years at the forefront of Paystack’s technological development had come under attack after certain information began circulating across social media. The controversy prompted the company’s Board of Directors to suspend him and commission what was presented as an independent investigation.

According to him, he deliberately refrained from issuing any public response at the time, choosing instead to allow the investigative process to run its course. He said this silence was intended to prevent any interference, as he trusted the procedure would be fair, objective, and thorough.

However, he noted that the absence of his voice created space for widespread speculation and distortions about his character and conduct.

The former executive stated that those familiar with him, both personally and professionally, know that the claims being shared online do not reflect his behaviour or values, stressing that he has always strived to treat everyone with dignity, respect, and a strong sense of responsibility.

He revealed that on Saturday, 22 November 2025, he was abruptly notified of his employment termination. He described the action as having been taken before the investigation reached any conclusion and without any form of engagement, meeting, or opportunity to respond to the allegations. He said the development amounted to a breach of the agreed terms of his suspension and contravened Paystack’s established internal procedures.

As a co-founder, long-serving board member, and technical leader, he highlighted his central role in establishing many of the systems and governance structures that guide Paystack’s internal operations. He added that he participated in the process in good faith and fully complied with all directives issued by the Board.

He confirmed that his legal team is currently examining the circumstances surrounding his termination, including whether the company acted in line with its policies. Further action, he noted, will be determined by his legal representatives, while he intends to refrain from further public commentary on the issue for now.
