Police Arrest Suspected Car Theft Syndicate Member After Alleged Attempt To Use Juju To Steal A ₦70M Gle 43 Amg Benz in Delta State
A dramatic attempted vehicle theft was foiled in Warri, Delta State, after a young man was apprehended by police while allegedly trying to drive away with a car valued at ₦70 million from Joyce Autos Car Shop, located opposite Urhobo College.
According to reports, the suspect had visited the dealership a day earlier to negotiate the purchase of the vehicle but left without making any payment.
He reportedly returned the following day and allegedly deceived staff by claiming he had completed payment for the vehicle during his previous visit. Believing his claim, workers at the dealership reportedly processed a receipt and released the vehicle to him.
The suspect’s plan, however, was cut short when the owner of the dealership noticed the vehicle being driven out of the premises without her authorization. Sensing that something was wrong, she immediately alerted security personnel at the gate, who promptly locked the exit, preventing the vehicle from leaving the premises.
The police were subsequently called to the scene, and the suspect was taken into custody.
Preliminary investigations reportedly indicated that the suspect manipulated members of the sales department into believing that payment for the vehicle had already been made, leading to the unauthorized release of the car.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to face prosecution. Authorities at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Warri have reportedly commenced further investigations into the incident to determine whether other individuals were involved in the alleged attempted theft.
