In a remarkable display of compassion and community development, the Prince Aham Ikonne Foundation, in collaboration with the Office of the Wife of the Executive Chairman of Aba North Local Government Area, Lady Nina Iheke, on Thursday empowered over 44 women drawn from different walks of life, including widows, single mothers, women with disabilities, and small-scale business owners.

The empowerment programme, which held at the Eziama Council Hall in Eziama-Aba, Aba North, witnessed joyous scenes as beneficiaries received financial support to boost their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

Speaking during the event, Prince Aham Ikonne, founder of the foundation, emphasized that the initiative was specifically targeted at women engaged in small-scale enterprises, describing women as pillars of economic sustainability in families and communities. He reaffirmed his commitment to continually partner with individuals and organizations that share the vision of empowering the less privileged and uplifting vulnerable groups in society.

In her goodwill message, Lady Nina Iheke, Wife of the Executive Chairman of Aba North, expressed profound gratitude to Prince Ikonne and his foundation for their collaboration and generosity. She lauded the stakeholders who graced the event and reiterated that the initiative aligns with the compassionate vision of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, and his wife, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti, who have been championing women and girl-child empowerment across Abia State.

Lady Iheke noted that the programme reflects the Governor and his wife’s ongoing agenda to support widows, promote women’s economic independence, and foster inclusive growth at the grassroots. She encouraged the beneficiaries to use the financial support judiciously, ensuring that the empowerment translates into long-term progress for themselves and their families.

The event ended with prayers, group photographs, and heartfelt appreciation from beneficiaries, many of whom described the gesture as timely, life-changing, and reflective of the new spirit of compassion in Abia under the Otti-led admin istration.
