Reality Update 202 Fires Back at Tony Emelogu, Lists Roads Constructed by Governor Alex Otti in Aba
A heated debate over infrastructure development in Abia State has continued to generate reactions online after a Facebook user known as “Reality Update 202” responded strongly to comments made by one Engineer Tony Emelogu regarding road projects executed by Governor Alex Otti’s administration.
Engineer Tony Emelogu had reportedly challenged supporters of Governor Alex Otti to provide evidence of at least 10 roads allegedly constructed from scratch to completion in Aba within the last three years. He also pledged ₦20 million to anyone who could provide verifiable proof, while claiming that the Governor was taking credit for projects initiated by former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
Reacting to the statement, Reality Update 202 released a detailed list of major roads in Aba said to have been fully reconstructed and completed under Governor Alex Otti’s administration between 2023 and 2026.
According to the Facebook user, some of the major roads delivered by the current administration include Port Harcourt Road, Udeagbala Road, MCC Road, Ehi Road, Kent Road, Old Express Road (Ohanku Road Phase 1), Cemetery Road Phase 1, Omuma Road, Green Avenue, and Shallom Road.
The user further described Port Harcourt Road as one of the signature projects of the administration, noting that the road was dualized and completed with drainage systems, streetlights, and U-turns.
Other roads highlighted were said to have undergone complete reconstruction from earthworks to asphalt finishing, while several strategic roads were reportedly expanded and equipped with proper drainage infrastructure to address flooding and traffic congestion within Aba.
Reality Update 202 also listed additional projects including Jubilee Road, Echefu Road, Umuocham Road, and the ongoing Old GRA Road project as evidence of ongoing infrastructural transformation in the commercial city.
In a sarcastic response directed at Tony Emelogu, the Facebook user stated that the “receipts dey ground,” insisting that the projects were neither refurbished nor inherited from previous administrations but were fully flagged off, funded, and commissioned by Governor Alex Otti’s government.
The user further challenged Emelogu to return from the United States and personally inspect the roads across Aba, insisting that the completed projects speak for themselves.
The exchange has since sparked widespread reactions on social media, with supporters and critics of the Abia State Government debating the extent of infrastructural development achieved under the current administration.
Reality Update 202 concluded by urging critics to engage with facts and data rather than political sentiments, while directing interested persons to the Abia State Ministry of Works project portal for details of the administration’s reported 414 projects across the state.
