Rush for 2027 Tickets Intensifies as Aspirants Flood Labour Party Secretariat for Nomination Forms
The race for elective offices ahead of the 2027 general elections gathered fresh momentum on Thursday as scores of aspirants stormed the Labour Party National Secretariat to obtain nomination forms for various political positions across the country.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Eluma Asogwa, the Labour Party disclosed that the increasing number of aspirants purchasing forms reflects the growing confidence Nigerians have in the party’s platform and political direction.
Among the prominent aspirants who obtained nomination forms were Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, who is seeking to contest for the Imo East Senatorial District seat; Hassan Mamman Barguwa, aspiring for the House of Representatives seat for Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency in Adamawa State; and Dennis Chibuzor Oshai, contesting for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency seat in Delta State.
Also among the aspirants were Eric Edward, who is seeking the Hong State Constituency seat in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, and Mohammed Hayatu Atiku, contesting for the Uba/Gaya State Constituency seat.
Speaking with journalists shortly after obtaining his nomination form, Hassan Mamman Barguwa praised the party for what he described as a smooth and transparent process.
He commended the modalities put in place by the Labour Party leadership, noting that the exercise was seamless and well-coordinated. Barguwa further expressed optimism about the party’s rising popularity, particularly in Adamawa State and across the North-East region, assuring supporters that the Labour Party remains on a strong path ahead of the 2027 elections.
The atmosphere at the party’s National Secretariat remained busy throughout the day, with dozens of aspirants and supporters still arriving to participate in the ongoing nomination process as of the time the statement was released.
Political observers believe the increasing interest in the Labour Party’s nomination process signals an early buildup to what could become one of the most competitive election cycles in recent Nigerian political history.
