Security in Abia: Government Debunks Panic Post, Highlights Five Key Facts Under Otti’s Administration

The Abia State Government has dismissed a recent post by a fringe social media platform, ABN TV, describing it as an irresponsible attempt to incite panic and create sectarian tension in one of Nigeria’s most peaceful states. The government warned residents to disregard what it called a politically motivated publication designed to undermine the stability of the state.

According to the statement, the controversial post—made on Monday, November 24, 2025, was not an error but a calculated move by the operator of ABN TV, Ifeanyi Okali, to stir unrest in service of undisclosed political interests.

Despite public outcry and repeated calls to retract the content, the blog has left the post online for more than 24 hours, prompting concerns about deliberate disinformation.

“Rather than apologise, he is grandstanding and boasting about his pugilistic abilities. Such a shame,” the statement noted.

Okafor accused Okali of consistently leveraging his platform to publish insensitive and negative reports against the Alex Otti administration, adding that while the blogger is free to pursue livelihood through political errand jobs, he must not disguise propaganda as journalism.

He stressed that Okali’s activities amount to working against the peace and security of Abia State, with “evidence all over his personal Facebook timeline and the platform he runs.”

To assure the public and counter what it described as an attempt to manufacture violence, the government outlined five key facts about the security situation in Abia under Governor Alex Otti:

1. Abia Maintains Full Control of Its Territory:

The administration says Abia remains one of the few states fully in control of its territories due to Governor Otti’s early resolve to prioritise security. On inauguration day, the governor vowed that no part of Abia would be ceded to criminal elements. Today, the state reportedly has no terrorist camps, killer enclaves, or forests occupied by violent gangs. “They cannot function here because the leader will NEVER allow that,” the statement emphasized.

2. Crime Has Become Too Costly to Attempt:

Security strategy in Abia has been structured to make crime unattractive and prohibitively costly. Drawing from insights shared by a former Mayor of Umunneochi, crime is approached as an economic activity. In Abia, the risks far outweigh the rewards. “Anyone coming to commit any sort of crime here already knows in advance that there will be hell to pay,” Okafor said, insisting that criminals now prefer to avoid Abia entirely.

3. Security Agencies Are Fully Aligned With Government Directives:

Governor Otti is said to have secured the collective commitment of security agencies to maintain law and order. Agencies reportedly understand their roles clearly, share common objectives, and are united in the mandate to make crime difficult, identify culprits when it occurs, and ensure justice is delivered swiftly.

4. A Holistic, Preventive Approach to Crime:

Beyond fighting crime, the government says it monitors and dismantles factors that enable it. This includes a sustained crackdown on hard drugs and harmful substances, with consistent raids on black spots across communities. The reasoning is that reducing drug availability reduces motivation and capacity for crime, especially among youths.

5. Creating Productive Alternatives Through Development;

The administration highlights investments in infrastructure, job creation systems, and entrepreneurial support as part of long-term crime prevention. The governor, according to the statement, offers young people dignifying alternatives to illicit activities by creating avenues that promote productivity and discourage criminal behaviour.

In conclusion, the government urged Abians to ignore ABN TV’s post, describing it as a baseless attempt to instigate crisis where none exists.

“My concluding message: ignore the attempt by Mr Ifeanyi Okali and his sponsors to manufacture violenc e where there is none,” Okafor said.
