“Stay in ADC, Don’t Leave, Scatter Them” — Gbajabiamila Tells Rep, Leke Abejide, Urges Him to Strengthen Opposition Party
The Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has advised the member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Leke Abejide, to remain in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and strengthen the party, describing him as a determined political figure capable of reshaping its structure and influence.
Gbajabiamila made the remarks while commending Abejide’s political resilience and electoral success under the ADC platform, urging him not to abandon the party despite reported pressure to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, Abejide’s repeated electoral victories under a relatively lesser-known party speak volumes about his political strength and personal capacity.
He said, “For a man to contest an election under unknown party like ADC and he won back to back, it tells you who that man is. I know you Hon. Leke Abejide to be a fighter and someone who don’t give up. My charge to you is to stay in that same ADC do not allow them to pursue you
“Don’t listen to the former Kogi Governor that said you should join the APC, stay there and fight them. I know you are a fighter, scatter them. We like what you are doing. Bring Bala Gombe, take over your party, do the right thing. A Party you built with your sweat and your money, don’t leave the Party. Continue. Good luck!“
The statement, which has since attracted attention in political circles, is seen by observers as a strong endorsement of Abejide’s role within the ADC and a broader call for internal party consolidation rather than defection.
Gbajabiamila’s remarks also underscore ongoing political realignments and strategic positioning ahead of future elections, as parties intensify efforts to retain key figures and strengthen their grassroots
