“YOU HAVE SET A STANDARD THAT THEY CANNOT MEET UP WITH, YOUR NEXT FOUR YEARS IS ASSURED, ABA NORTH AND SOUTH WILL DETERMINE YOUR VICTORY IN 2027“ — Aba-La-Ohazu Unanimously Endorses Governor Alex Otti for Second Term
The indigenous people of Aba-La-Ohazu, comprising the two Local Government Areas of Aba North and Aba South Local Government Areas, have unanimously endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term in office, in what observers and stakeholders describe as a significant political statement ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The people made their stand known on Sunday, April 19th, 2026, when a high-powered delegation of political and community stakeholders, traditional rulers, women groups, and youths, representing the entire villages in Aba North and South LGAs stormed the Governor’s office on a “Thank You” and solidarity visit. The delegation was led by the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ihuoma Emeruwa.
Speaking on behalf of the political class, prominent leaders including a former Transitional Committee Chairman and stakeholders chairman of the PDP in Aba, Elder Chima Mbama, popularly called “Oshemhole of Aba,” a former zonal Chairman of ADC, Chief Charles Nwanyanwu, and a former Permanent Secretary of the Abia State Civil Service, Dr. Mrs. Chidinma Nwogu, among others, openly declared their support for Governor Otti’s second term ambition.
They acknowledged what they described as sweeping infrastructural transformation across Aba, citing the rehabilitation of critical roads such as Ohanku Road, Port Harcourt Road, and several others too numerous to mention.
According to them, these achievements have positioned Governor Otti as their sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
Elder Mbama, in a particularly emphatic address, highlighted the Governor’s environmental cleanliness policy, noting that it has reinvented Aba into a cleaner and more organized city. He further stressed that Governor Otti has redefined governance in Abia State by setting a benchmark that opposition forces would struggle to match.
“You have set a standard that they cannot meet up with. Your next four years is assured.
“Aba North and South will determine your victory in 2027,“ Elder Mbama stated.
Adding the voice of traditional authority, Eze Love Nwogu of Aba North and Eze Njoku of Aba South, speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers of Aba-La-Ohazu, commended Governor Otti for the visible infrastructural development and the resulting economic revival in Aba.
They noted that beyond road construction, the Governor has tackled long-standing environmental challenges, including the life-threatening gully erosion menace at Ovom and Ogbor Hill, while also initiating work on the Enyimba Radisson Hotel project, a move expected to boost tourism and economic activity.
Eze Nwogu described the Governor’s efforts as a genuine demonstration of love for the Aba people and pledged the full mobilization of traditional institutions to secure his reelection.
“Otti must go again. Governor must go again. This election, it is unopposed for Governor Otti,“ Eze Nwogu stated.
Earlier in his remarks, the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, formally introduced the delegation and underscored the unity of purpose behind the visit, stating that the people of Aba-La-Ohazu had come with a clear and collective resolve to back Governor Otti’s reelection bid.
He emphasized that the delegation represented all villages within Aba North and South, assuring the Governor of unwavering support from the Aba Ngwa people.
“If there is any doubt you (Gov. Otti) have, that doubt has to disappear
“And all of them, the delegates have all registered in the ongoing Labour Party Online registration exercise,“ Rt. Hon. Emeruwa stated.
In his response, Governor Alex Otti expressed deep appreciation for the continued support of the Aba La Ohazu people, recalling his longstanding electoral success in Aba since 2015.
The Governor reiterated that his decision to venture into politics was largely driven by a commitment to fix Aba, a goal he said remains central to his administration’s agenda.
He assured the delegation that ongoing and pending infrastructure projects would receive sustained attention, revealing that work on Omuma Road would soon resume with renewed intensity as existing challenges are being addressed. He also disclosed that Uratta Road is captured under the ABSIID project and would soon be flagged off following the completion of necessary processes.
“I want to thank all of you for this visit and reassure you that there is still a whole lot of things to do.
“The Uratta road and the Old Express, of course we have almost concluded the funding, the funding is available, but there are steps we must take, because they come into the ABSIID projects.
“It’s not something you just move in, but we are almost done. We are going to flag-off the construction.
“I want to challenge all of us to ensure that every part of Abia State gets registered for PVC, particularly those ones that are turning 18, and then get registered in the Labour Party,“ Governor Otti stated.
Delivering the vote of thanks, the Mayor of Aba South, Hon. Obialor Denis Anyanwu, commended the Governor for granting the delegation audience and praised his administration for what he described as impactful human and infrastructural development across Aba.
He reaffirmed the commitment of Aba-La-Ohazu people to mobilize massive support that would guarantee Governor Otti’s return to office in 2027.
The event witnessed the presence of key political figures and stakeholders, including the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Elder Goodluck Ubochi; the immediate past member representing Aba North/South Federal Constituency, Hon. Chimaobi Ebisike; former Mayor of Aba South, Chief Uche Nwogu; former Aba North LGA PDP Chairman, Barr. Nkaru; and other notable leaders such as Chief Uchenna Ukwuzor and Chief Israel Aguwa, alongside traditional rulers, women groups, youths, and a bro
ad spectrum of Aba-La-Ohazu sons and daughters.
