Governor Alex Otti Set to Flag-Off Reconstruction of Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene and Ariam-Usaka Roads as Abia Accelerates Infrastructure Renewal
As part of the ongoing aggressive infrastructural renewal agenda of the Abia State Government, Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, is scheduled to officially flag-off the reconstruction of the 25-kilometre Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road and the 13.1-kilometre Ariam–Usaka Road in Ikwuano Local Government Area on Friday this week.
This announcement was made by the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, on Monday during the State Executive Council briefing held at the Government House, Umuahia. The meeting, presided over by Governor Otti, focused on key developmental updates across critical sectors of the state.
According to the Commissioner, the dual road projects form part of the administration’s strategic plan to enhance inter-community connectivity, stimulate economic growth, and ease transportation between Abia and neighbouring states. He noted that the flag-off signals Governor Otti’s continued resolve to rebuild Abia’s decayed infrastructure and restore public confidence in government through visible, people-oriented projects.
The forthcoming flag-off ceremony is expected to draw the attention of stakeholders, traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents of Ikwuano, who have long yearned for the reconstruction of the vital economic corridors linking Umuahia with Akwa Ibom State.
The projects, once completed, are anticipated to boost agricultural productivity, improve trade, and open up rural communities to new opportunities in line with Governor Otti’s vision of building a modern, accessible, and prosperous Abia.
