The Abia State Government has announced that Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, will officially flag off the reconstruction of two major road projects in Ikwuano Local Government Area, the 25-kilometre Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road and the 13.1-kilometre Ariam–Usaka Ring Road.
According to a statement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, the flag-off ceremony is scheduled for Friday, 24th October 2025, and will take place in two phases. The first event will hold at Timber Market, Ahia-Eke, Umuahia North LGA, at 11:00 a.m., while the second phase will take place at Obeama Ariam Model Primary School, Ikwuano LGA, by 12:00 noon.
The statement noted that the reconstruction of these strategic road corridors underscores Governor Otti’s unwavering commitment to infrastructural renewal, rural connectivity, and economic revitalization across the state.
“These projects reflect the Governor’s vision of opening up rural communities, promoting agriculture, enhancing trade, and facilitating the smooth movement of goods and people between Abia and neighbouring states,” the statement reads in part.
The government extended an open invitation to government functionaries, political leaders, traditional rulers, community heads, market and transport associations, youth and women groups, as well as residents of Ikwuano and neighbouring LGAs, to attend the landmark event.
All invited guests are advised to be seated before the arrival of the Governor and his entourage.
