Governor Alex Otti to Commission Umueñe Ultra-Modern Court Building in Isiala Ngwa South as Abia Embarks on Statewide Judicial Reforms

The Abia State Government has announced that Governor Alex Otti will, on Wednesday, October 29, officially commission the Umueñe Ultra-Modern Court Building located in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, marking a major milestone in the ongoing reform of the state’s justice delivery system.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, during a press briefing held on Monday at the Government House, Umuahia, following the week’s State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Otti.

According to the Commissioner, “This is in line with the ongoing reform of the state’s justice delivery system.”

He revealed that the Abia State Government is currently constructing 17 new ultra-modern court houses across the 17 local government areas of the state as part of its comprehensive plan to modernize the judiciary and enhance access to justice for all citizens.

Prince Kanu explained that the Umueñe Courthouse represents the first of the 17 court buildings to be completed and commissioned, adding that the remaining 16 courthouses are at various stages of completion.

In his words, “The new courthouses are state-of-the-art and equipped with best-in-class facilities that will improve the course of the justice delivery system in the state.”

He further noted that the new judicial complexes would serve as beacons of innovation and technological advancement, ensuring greater efficiency, accessibility, and quick dispensation of justice in Abia State.

The Commissioner emphasized that the project reflects the Otti administration’s commitment to institutional reforms, modernization, and infrastructural renewal in the justice sector, which is key to building a fair, transparent, and accountable gove rnance system.
