The Abia State Ministry of Works is making significant strides in the state’s infrastructure landscape, with ongoing direct labour projects in 48 locations across Abia. Out of these, five projects have been successfully completed, while an additional five new projects have been added to the Ministry’s maintenance portfolio.

 

This update was provided by Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, on Monday at Government House, Umuahia, during a briefing on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting, presided over by Governor Alex Otti.

 

Prince Kanu emphasized that the completed projects reflect the government’s commitment to boosting local employment, ensuring timely delivery of infrastructure, and enhancing community access to essential services. While highlighting the new projects added to the maintenance schedule, the Commissioner noted that the Ministry of Works continues to focus on sustaining quality, safety, and durability in public works across the state.

 

The Commissioner also listed the completed direct labour works, showcasing the tangible progress being achieved under the current administration. These developments are part of Governor Alex Otti’s broader agenda to accelerate infrastructure development, create jobs, and improve the living standards of Abians statewide.
