ASTOPU Umuahia Zone Chairman, Hon. Chinweotito Appolos Urges Abians to Celebrate Christmas Responsibly, Emphasizes Road Safety
The Chairman of the Abia State Tricycles Operators Union (ASTOPU), Umuahia Zone, Hon. Chinweotito Godson Appolos, has called on Abians to embrace safety, moderation and responsibility as they celebrate the 2025 Christmas festivities with family, friends and loved ones.
In a Christmas goodwill message released on Thursday, the ASTOPU chairman congratulated Ndi Abia on the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, describing the season as one of love, peace, sacrifice and renewed hope. He noted that Christmas provides an opportunity for families to reunite and communities to strengthen bonds, but cautioned that celebrations should not come at the expense of human lives.
The union leader particularly emphasized road safety during the festive period, urging motorists, tricycle operators and other road users to shun over-speeding, reckless driving and the dangerous practice of driving under the influence of alcohol. According to him, no celebration is worth the loss of lives through avoidable road accidents.
He further advised commuters and revelers to obey traffic regulations and cooperate with traffic and security agencies deployed across the state to ensure safe movement throughout the Yuletide. Parents and guardians were also urged to closely monitor their children during outings and festivities to prevent mishaps.
Addressing members of ASTOPU across Umuahia Zone, the chairman charged them to serve as ambassadors of safety and discipline on the roads by demonstrating professionalism, patience and respect for human life at all times.
He also encouraged Abians to remember the less privileged during the season by extending acts of kindness and compassion, in line with the teachings of Christ.
The ASTOPU chairman concluded by wishing all residents of the state a peaceful and accident-free Christmas celebration, while praying for good health, progress and prosperity for Abians in the coming year.
