ASTOPU Aba Zone Chairman Urges Abians to Celebrate Christmas Responsibly, Emphasises Road Safety
The Chairman of the Abia State Tricycles Operators Union (ASTOPU), Aba Zone, Hon. Victor Azubuike, has extended warm Christmas greetings to Abians while calling on residents to prioritise safety as they celebrate the Yuletide with family, friends, and relations.
In a Christmas message to the people of the state, Hon. Azubuike described Christmas as a season of love, peace, sacrifice, and renewed hope, urging citizens to uphold these values throughout the festive period. He noted that the season should be a time of joy and unity, not one marked by avoidable accidents and loss of lives.
The ASTOPU Aba Zone chairman particularly appealed to tricycle operators and other road users to exercise restraint and responsibility on the roads. He cautioned against over-speeding, reckless driving, and operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or harmful substances, stressing that strict adherence to traffic rules would help ensure a peaceful and accident-free celebration.
Hon. Azubuike also advised commuters and revelers to remain patient, avoid unnecessary night travels, and look out for one another, noting that collective responsibility is key to road safety during the busy festive season.
According to him, no celebration is worth risking human life, adding that the greatest gift families can receive this Christmas is the safe return of their loved ones.
He reaffirmed ASTOPU’s commitment to supporting government efforts aimed at maintaining peace, order, and safety on the roads, especially during periods of increased movement such as the Christmas season.
Hon. Azubuike concluded by wishing all Abians a joyous, peaceful, and accident-free Christmas, while expressing optimism that the New Year would bring renewed blessings, prosperity, and progress to Abia State.
