Governor Alex Chioma Otti has declared a bold shift from planning to execution in the housing sector, unveiling several landmark projects set to transform the living conditions of Abians, particularly civil servants and vulnerable groups.
The announcement came on Thursday during the first edition of the 2026 monthly media engagement, “Governor Otti Speaks,” held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Umuahia.
At the interactive session with journalists, Governor Otti highlighted the readiness of the Pocket Layout Housing Construction for Civil Servants, emphasizing that the project will soon be flagged off as part of his administration’s commitment to providing affordable and accessible housing for state workers. He further disclosed that additional housing initiatives in Mbaisi, Mgbarakuma, and Ubakala are also slated for imminent flag-off, signaling a rapid acceleration in the government’s housing agenda.
In a move aimed at promoting inclusivity, Governor Otti announced plans to allocate land to the Zonal Disability Commission for the construction of its new headquarters. He also acknowledged the critical need to enhance mobility for persons living with disabilities, promising the provision of a dedicated bus to serve their transportation needs across the state.
The Governor did not stop at housing, extending his focus to essential public utilities. Water projects across Aba (CKC axis), Ariaria, Umuahia, and the Arochukwu College of Education are nearing completion.
Governor Otti reiterated his vision of ensuring running water reaches homes across Abia State, underscoring his administration’s commitment to providing fundamental infrastructure that directly improves the quality of life for residents.
This media engagement marked the January 2026 edition of “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians,” a platform designed to keep citizens informed about the progress of government initiatives and development plans. Through the forum, Governor Otti continues to demonstrate his dedication to turning policy frameworks into tangible results that impact the lives of Abians.
